(How To Guide): Effectively Using Snapchat To Market Your Online Business

With the number of tools at our disposal, it’s easy to get caught up in the number of choices for the most effective ways to advertise our online business.  The quickest and most effective tool out of all the social media apps and websites is of course…Snapchat.

Snapchat is often overlooked my too many people hooked on the appeal of Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.  Those sources are unbelievable tools but can be used more effectively after you gain a more developed following (will be discussing this in a later post). Snapchat delivers on the main tendencies of our newest generations and that makes it extremely useful in the beginning stages of starting your business.  The new generation of app users want quick and to-the-point interactions so they can move on with their days.

The most undervalued aspect of Snapchat, and also its biggest challenge, is the 10 seconds the app allows you to get your point across.  Cramming your valuable information into a 10 second clip doesn’t hardly seem like enough time; however, the point is not necessarily to get them to your page at that very moment, but to gain their trust and to engage them with a value added conversation.  Engaging your audience and starting a continuous conversation about a specific topic will make you not only likable from the start, but appear experienced in your craft.

The biggest challenge of starting an online business is to get people not only to view your site, but to get them to be feel confident that you’re a trustworthy individual.  Conversations through Snapchat bridge the gap between shady anonymous online marketer and an honest and reliable person they can relate to and trust.

To first engage your audience, you upload a story that’s valuable, engaging and interesting all in one. It’s no easy task but like all things in life,  practice makes perfect.  If you do it right, your audience will send something back and that is your newest lead (congratulations). From there, you have to gain an understanding of your potential lead and help them solve whatever they’re in need of. If they snap you back then you obviously have something they want. Find out what that is and naturally progress the conversation to either check out your business or stay tuned for your next appearance. If the first interaction doesn’t get them to your site, just be patient and continue to gain trust. This will leave a better impression than being overly pushy.

Using Snapchat from the start, gaining trust, and providing some great conversation of value about a particular subject is phase 1 for online marketing. This first step allows an easier transition towards turning these viewers into regular visitors and potential customers.

Nothing is worse than an overexcited and trashy salesman in real life, so why act that way online? Gaining trust and naturally personifying a normal and likable person from the start is very important in gaining credibility.  Before trying to jam a specific product down the throats of your potential customers, allow them to see who you are and what you’re all about, it goes a long way.
